The Hard Truth
Everybody is one phone call away from a season they didn’t choose.
The diagnosis. The divorce. The relapse. The layoff. The arrest. The call about your kid. Nobody plans for the bottom of the mountain. And here’s the part nobody says out loud: nobody ever taught you what to do when you get there. Not school. Not work. Not the internet. The single most important skill of your life, and there was never a class for it. Until now.
Nobody taught you this.
Resilience was never a class. You were supposed to figure out the hardest thing in life on your own, in the dark, while everyone watched.
26 years of proof.
Every single day since I walked out, I’ve helped somebody come back. Rich families, poor families, urban, suburban, 25+ countries. The method holds everywhere.
Your hard season is your material.
The thing you’re going through right now is not the end of your story. It’s the chapter people will study later. If you climb.
Right now matters.
The longer you stand still telling yourself the mountain is too big, the bigger it gets. Mountains don’t shrink. Climbers grow.
What This Does
This isn’t motivation. It’s a method.
Motivation wears off by Tuesday. A method runs your whole life. Here's the shift.
Where you are now
- You know something has to change but you can’t name the first move
- You start strong and fade by week two
- You’re carrying someone else’s hard season and losing yourself inside it
- You watch people come back from less with more and wonder what they know
- You’ve been saying “when things calm down” for years
Where you’re going
- You know exactly what your mountain is and what the next move costs
- You have a List, and the List runs your day instead of your mood
- You climb in the dark without applause, and you don’t quit
- You reach the summit and you can handle what comes with it
- You go back down and pull somebody else up, and that becomes your legacy
Andre’s Method
The Mountain Method™
Seven moves, one per session. I used every one of them to climb out of a 100-year sentence. They will work on any mountain you're facing.
01 · Decide
Name the mountain. You can’t climb what you won’t name. In solitary, I realized I was about to become King of Nowhere. That night I decided who I was going to be instead. Your decision is waiting on you.
02 · The List
Write the impossible list. Mine said: learn to read. Study law. Win my appeal. People laughed. The List didn’t care. The List is the map.
03 · Climb in the Dark
Do the work nobody sees. I worked twenty-hour days for eight years with no applause, no likes, no guarantee. Discipline is what you do when no one is clapping.
04 · Find Your People
Go to who has done it, not who you know. Thirteen and a half years in, I prepared for my first parole board by asking about twenty men on the yard what to say. Every one of them was back inside. I was asking failures how to succeed. Support moves your emotions. Help moves the outcome.
05 · Fall Forward
You have never seen a game end 0 to 2. There is always a defense, so somewhere on this mountain you are going to slip. The parole board told me no, then told me why, and once I understood their no I knew how to get to a yes. Falling is the process. Quitting is the only thing the method has no answer for.
06 · Summit
Cross the line. And survive it. Success has its own weather: imposter syndrome, guilt, old friends with old plans. Most people never train for the top. You will.
07 · Go Back Down
Your comeback is not complete until you’ve guided someone else’s. I was inside a juvenile detention center 90 minutes after my release. That’s the move that turns a story into a legacy.
I’ve stood in rooms where one comeback changed everything. A father 60 days sober watching his daughter trust him again. A CEO who finally stopped pretending. A kid in a housing project writing his first List. Facts inform. Comebacks transform. Resilience is not a gift. It’s a skill. And I’m going to teach it to you.
Who It’s For
Whatever the mountain is. The method is the same.
The No You Didn’t See Coming
The funding fell through. The partner walked. The board said no and didn’t tell you why. You’re not broke, you’re stalled, and nobody has handed you the reason.
Higher Than You Planned, and Stuck
You got the thing. It didn’t fix what you thought it would fix. That’s not ingratitude. That’s altitude, and altitude has weather.
What You Built Stopped Working
The company, the partnership, your name. You’re not broke, you’re stuck, and everyone around you only knows the winning version of you.
Carrying Someone Else
Your kid, your partner, someone you employ. Every resource in the world and no idea which one helps. I’ll show you what moves a person and what never does.
He Lived This
From a cell to the world’s stages.
Andre hasn’t studied comebacks from a distance. He is one. From a maximum security cell to a Harvard fellowship. From the streets of Liberia to corporate boardrooms in London. From the prison yard to being hired back by the same prison system to teach. Every room gets the same man.

The Masterclass
Seven sessions. One climb.
Each session changes how you see one thing. By the end, the way you face hard seasons will never be the same.
Session 01: King of Nowhere
After this session you will stop circling the decision you’ve been avoiding. You’ll make it. On paper. Out loud. The mountain gets named here.
Session 02: The List
You’ll build your impossible list the way I built mine in a cell. Not goals. A List. There’s a difference, and the difference is the whole game.
Session 03: Climbing in the Dark
You’ll learn how to keep moving when nobody’s watching, nobody’s clapping, and nobody believes you yet. This is where every comeback is actually won.
Session 04: The People on the Mountain
One teacher pulled me out of the remedial class. One officer told me I was better than this. You’ll learn how to find your voices, and how to silence the wrong ones.
Session 05: Falling
You will fall. The question is whether you fall off the mountain or fall on it. This session is the difference between a relapse and a restart.
Session 06: Summit
Crossing the line is not the end. It’s a new altitude with new weather. Imposter syndrome. Guilt. Old friends with old plans. You’ll be ready for all of it.
Session 07: Go Back Down
The session that separates this from every course you’ve ever taken. How your comeback becomes purpose and impact, and for some people a living. The mountain you climbed is the one you’re now qualified to guide others up. No income is promised or implied.

Founder, Academy of Hope · Author, Ambassador of Hope · Subject of two documentaries
I was sentenced to more than 100 years when I was 18. I spent 14 years inside, two and a half of them in solitary. That’s where I made my List. I taught myself to read. I studied law. I won my own appeal. On November 15, 1999, I walked out a free man, and 90 minutes later I was inside a juvenile detention center talking to kids who looked just like me.
I’ve been free for 26 years. In those 26 years, every single day, I’ve helped somebody. From every walk of life. I’ve worked in more than 25 countries. When Honduras had the highest murder rate in the world, they called me. When Liberia had child soldiers in the streets after the civil war, I was on the ground. When the Bahamas needed a plan for kids dropping out and ending up in the system, I helped build it. I’ve taught at London Business School, advised governments, and the same prison system that once held me eventually hired me to come back and teach.
I’m not a therapist. I’m not a guru. I’m the guy who climbed the mountain everyone said was unclimbable, and then spent 26 years going back down for other people. This masterclass is everything I know about the climb. Not theory. The real mechanics. So you can do it too.

Questions
Before you start climbing.
Is this therapy?
No. I’m not a therapist and this is not treatment. This is education and a method, taught from lived experience. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) or talk to a licensed professional. The Method works alongside professional help, never instead of it.
Do I need to be at rock bottom for this to work?
No. The Method works at any altitude. Some people come to it in crisis. Some come because they’re stuck at base camp on a mountain they’ve been staring at for years. Some come to climb their second or third mountain. The moves are the same.
I’m here for someone else, not me. Will this help?
Yes. One of the four groups I built this for is the people carrying somebody else’s hard season. You’ll learn how to help without losing yourself, what actually moves a person to climb, and what never does.
How is the course delivered?
Self-paced video sessions, four and a half hours in total. Most run 30 to 35 minutes; Session 4 is 46 and Session 7 is just over an hour, because neither of them would cut. Plus The Climb Journal as a downloadable PDF. Lifetime access. Watch on any device, any speed, any order. Although I’d start at Session 1. The mountain has an order.
How much time does this take?
You can watch everything in a weekend or take a month. The Journal runs 30 days at ten minutes a day. The real time cost is the climb itself, and you were already paying that. This just makes the climbing count.
What’s the difference between the two tiers?
They’re two different things, not two sizes of the same thing. The Masterclass is the method, yours to run alone at your own speed, and you keep it. The Cohort is thirty people who start on the same day: I read your Comeback List and write back in week five, you’re inside the private Base Camp with the other 29, and there’s a live call with me every other week for a year, open to everyone inside The Cohort. Thirty seats per cohort. When they’re gone, they’re gone until next quarter.
How long does The Cohort last?
The parts that use my time run twelve months from the day your cohort starts: the live calls every other week and the private side of Base Camp. My review of your Comeback List happens once, in week five. The Masterclass and the Journal you keep with no time limit, same as if you’d bought them on their own. At the end of the twelve months you can renew if you want to stay in the room, and you’re never charged automatically.
Who’s actually on the live calls?
Everyone currently inside The Cohort, not only your thirty. Your thirty is your cohort: the same start date, the same private Base Camp channel, the same week-five read of your List, and the people you finish with. The calls are the whole room, and that is exactly why there are twenty-six a year instead of twelve: a room per cohort would have to be monthly, and it would get thinner every quarter as cohorts stack up. Every other week is the floor, not the ceiling. When my schedule allows I add extra hours and post them in Base Camp. Every other week is what I’m promising you, and I promised twenty-six rather than fifty-two so I would never have to miss one.
What if I fall off halfway through?
Then you fell. Falling is just part of the process, and Session 5 is entirely about what you do next. The move isn’t getting up faster. It’s finding out exactly why you went down, then adjusting, then going again. Quitting is the only thing the method has no answer for.
